Matcha Butter Toast

Ingredients
1 slice of Bread
Matcha Butter
40g Unsalted butter (softened)
4g AJISAI / Matcha powder (sieved)
4g Sugar
Some Orange Zest
Gula Melaka Syrup
175g Gula melaka (roughly chopped)
75g Water
3pcs Pandan leaves
Pinch of salt
Toppings (or your choice of toppings)
Nuts (roughly chopped)
Fresh fruits
Method For Matcha Butter
Mix unsalted butter, matcha powder, sugar, and some orange zest until well combined.
Storage tip: Store the extras in an airtight container. Consume within 3 days.
Method For Gula Melaka Syrup
- Roughly chop the gula melaka so that it can melt easily.
- Combine gula melaka, water, and pandan leaves in a saucepan, bring to boil, stirring occasionally.
- Turn down to low heat and add a pinch of salt to bring out the flavour. Continue cooking for about 20 – 25 mins.
- Remove from heat when the mixture starts to get thickened. The consistency will get a little bit thicker once it cools down.
Storage tip: Store the extras in an airtight container through a sieve. (Remember to let cool completely before closing the cover). Consume within 5 days.
Method To Assemble
- Preheat oven to 175 Celsius.
- Cut a # halfway through the bread, do not cut all the way through (otherwise it would be a bread cube). Spread Matcha butter over the bread.
- Toast for 8 mins or until golden brown.
- Add on your choice of toppings and drizzle gula melaka syrup over the toast.
